SmarTrend(R) News Watch: Amazon Acquires SnapTellJun 18, 2009 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- In an effort to enhance its mobile capabilities, Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) acquired Palo Alto, California-based startup company SnapTell for an undisclosed amount, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. SnapTell makes a popular software application that is used on iPhones (NASDAQ:AAPL), which allow users to take a photo of a product such as a book cover or a DVD cover and connect online to identify it and order it. While Amazon already has a similar application, users are forced to take a photo and match them with products in its catalog, however, with the integration of SnapTell, the software will immediately pair the picture with the product. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SmarTrend scans over 5,000 stocks daily and alerts you when a change in trend is identified.
