New Ultra Slim Ku-Band 20W/40W Block Up Converter & Mobile Earth Station from ST Electronics at Communicasia2009

CommunicAsia, Singapore, Jun 16, 2009 (ACN Newswire via COMTEX) -- Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics), will be showcasing its satellite communications (satcom) solutions and e-Government solutions at CommunicAsia 2009 at the Singapore Expo Hall 6, Booth 6H2-07 from 16-19 June 2009. ST Electronics will display its new Ultra Slim Ku-Band Block Up Converter (BUC) and release information about its Mobile Earth Station (MES) capabilities. The company's e-Government solutions will include Wireless Sensor Network, Automated Title Registry System, GENiiE VSee - a powerful Video Conference solution as well as the worlds first smartcard protected hard disk encryption enclosure.

Mobile Earth Station (MES) ST Electronics' Mobile Earth Station (MES) integrates the power of a high-quality satellite communication system with the mobility of a durable trailer to provide reliable field communications. Designed with the ease of transportability and mobility in mind, the system meets commercial land, air, and sea transport restrictions and specifications.

The station can be easily attached to a mobile trailer with interconnecting brakes and electrical lines attached to the tow vehicle. The 20-feet removable platform housing the customised shelter, the 15kVA generator and a 3.9m Ku-band tri-fold antenna, connects and locks easily to the trailer using corners with twist locks that meet international ISO standards. Each system includes customised air-conditioned enclosures to provide cooling to the equipment and an environment of comfort for operators. MES can be deployed for mission-critical operations in remote sites and is suited for paved highways, gravel roads and rough terrain travel.

Ultra Slim Ku-Band 20W/40W BUC ST Electronics has launched a new series of BUCs which is used for transmission in a VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) system. Its new series of Ultra Slim Ku-Band 20W/40W BUCs are slim, compact, light-weight and offer the highest power/weight ratio. At a mere 4.8kg, it provides highly reliable performance over a wide temperature range. The rotary joint provides a multiplexed signal to 'Transmit' at Ku-Band and 'Receive' at L-Band frequencies. The first of such ultra slim BUCs, it is suitable for on the move applications as it can be seamlessly integrated with the antenna on the roofs of vehicles for communications.

As it is highly linear, the BUC can be used in multi carrier applications such as SOTM (Satcom-on-the-move), Digital Satellite News Gathering, Satellite TV, Broadband, Video Conferencing in Trains, Cars and Coaches. The innovative thermal management technique of ST Electronics Ultra Slim Ku-Band BUC increases long-term reliability and has been field proven under harsh environmental conditions to withstand temperature range of -20 to +50 Degree Celsius with up to 100% humidity.
