KEYMILE: KEYMILE presents Next-Generation Network migration solutions

Hanover,, Jun 08, 2009 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- From 16 to 19 June, KEYMILE will showcase its current product range at this year's CommunicAsia in Singapore. Migration from traditional to packet-oriented services is one of the aspects KEYMILE will focus on. This allows network operators to continue supporting established telephony and broadband services and migrate to the NGN at the same time.

KEYMILE, one of the leading suppliers of Next-Generation data transmission systems, will concentrate on gradual migration to the NGN at the fair. With its hybrid architecture, KEYMILE's multi-service access platform MileGate supports TDM and Ethernet, so that traditional and IP services can be provided simultaneously in one network element. The multi-service access platform UMUX also offers a reliable way to provide advanced Ethernet and traditional PDH/SDH services out of one network element.

In this context, KEYMILE will present a new Gateway card for the MileGate platform at the CommunicAsia. The card offers integrated CESoP functions (CESoP = Circuit Emulation Services over Packet) and therefore connects packet-oriented networks with traditional TDM services. Network operators can then very easily and conveniently migrate the access network, not just for voice, but also for data services, to an All-IP network. As a result, business customer services, such as dedicated lines, or data services to bridge private telephone exchanges, can be very efficiently provided in the IP-based NGN environment.

The second innovation KEYMILE will present is an SHDSL-EFM line card. The SHDSL-EFM line card allows network operators to use the Ethernet protocol all the way from their exchange via the SHDSL transmission path to the end customer. The card combines symmetrical transmission with a wide transmission range and is perfect for long copper lines. Above all, business customer service providers benefit from the high transmission bandwidth and cost savings because they use the standard Ethernet protocol.

KEYMILE will also focus on FTTx and present a new optical Ethernet card for MileGate. Network operators can use the card to offer broadband Internet and Voice-over-IP, as well as IPTV-based services like Video-on-Demand. They can also cost-effectively supply customers connected via fibre optics with an extensive range of TV programmes, without having to set up an expensive IPTV infrastructure. Because this card enables a cable TV signal to be fed into every port via an additional wavelength, while IP data traffic is transmitted at the same time. It also makes MileGate attractive to cable network operators who can then provide traditional cable TV and Triple Play via one single fibre.

KEYMILE also presents a new Ethernet switch card that adds Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) functions to the UMUX platform. The new module lets Ethernet connections be realized in locations without local power. Eliminating the costs of providing electrical power in remote locations is one of the great advantages of PoE: laying of dedicated power cables is not required, allowing Ethernet devices to be installed in inaccessible locations or areas in which cables would otherwise be unwelcome.

A new Ethernet aggregation unit enhances the switching and routing functions of KEYMILE's multi-service access platform UMUX. The unit enables direct connection of Ethernet networks and other UMUX Ethernet interfaces to the PDH/SDH network. In addition, it consolidates Ethernet traffic in several TDM channels, thus offering a reliable way to provide advanced Ethernet and traditional PDH/SDH services out of one network element.
