Dell'Oro Group: Virtualization Bolsters 10 Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter Market


Jun 03, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- The 10GB Ethernet Network Adapter market rebounded in the first quarter of the year from the prior quarter's decline, according to a report by Dell'Oro Group, a source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries The group noted that 2009 will be a year of growth for this technology, despite declines in many other networking technologies.



"Users continue to virtualize servers because of return on investment and equipment cost savings," said Seamus Crehan, Vice President at Dell'Oro Group. "Once users move to a virtualized environment, 10GB Ethernet server connectivity becomes a very attractive option." In terms of vendor market share, Intel regained the lead in adapter card revenue and port shipments, while Broadcom held on to the top position for silicon controller shipments.
