'UPC Ireland loses 5,200 customers in Q1'

Cable operator UPC Ireland posted revenues of EUR 61.1 million for the
first quarter, up 2.2 percent from a year earlier. Operating cash flow
increased 4.0 percent to EUR 23.5 million. The company lost 5,200
customers in the three months to March, for a total 549,700. The analog
cable TV base declined by 11,400 to 205,600 customers, while the
digital TV user base rose by 6,900 to 240,000. UPC also added 9,500 new
broadband customers in the quarter, for a total 111,400 at the end of
March, and the telephony customer base rose by 7,000 to 34,800.
