BRIEF: Bernard pleads guilty to DUI

Elaine Bernard, 49, pleaded guilty today to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and refusing to submit to a blood-alcohol test, the Fresno County District Attorney's Office announced. Bernard, a former executive director of Genesis Family Center, a child-welfare agency. was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail, the office announced. The sentence will run concurrently with her probation violation for felony grand theft and tax evasion.
She also faces 10 days in the adult offender work program when she is released, and she must take a DUI class and pay a $2,170 fine, the D.A.'s office said.
