Bharti Airtel forms joint venture with Alcatel-Lucent


Apr 30, 2009 (Datamonitor Financial Deals Tracker via COMTEX) -- Bharti Airtel Limited, an India-based provider of integrated telecommunication services, has formed a joint venture with Alcatel-Lucent, a France-based communication solutions provider, to manage Bharti's pan-India broadband and telephone services and help its transition to next generation networks.

Under the joint venture, Alcatel-Lucent will design, plan, deploy, optimize, and manage Bharti's broadband and telephone network across India. A new legal entity is being formed which will be operated by Alcatel-Lucent. Alcatel-Lucent will hold a 74% stake in the joint venture with Bharti will hold the remaining 26% stake.
