INDIA'S INTEX FORAYS INTO LOW-COST COMPUTING
NEW DELHI, Apr 22, 2009 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) --
IT hardware and mobile
phone maker Intex Technologies on Tuesday announced its foray
into low-cost computing space, with the launch of its range of
desktops priced below Rs 14,000 (US$278.89).
"This feature rich product powered with Intel Atom Processor
is an ideal offering to make computing technology reach masses
since it presents the best combination of performance and
price," Intex Deputy General Manager and Head (PC Business
Vertical) Sanjay Kumar said.
The company is looking at rural and semi-urban households,
cyber cafes and small and medium enterprises, where there is a
need for an economically priced PC with basic features.
"Intex has always aimed at bridging the digital divide by
focusing on B and C towns to increase the low penetration level
of computers in rural and semi urban areas across the country,"
Kumar added.
The desktops, powered with Intel's Atom processor, comes in
two versions priced at Rs 12,900 and Rs 13,500 respectively.
