Asterisk® Based Business Telephony Offering by Xorcom Expanded to Include Dozens of New Digital and FXO Units

E1/T1 PRI and BRI ISDN interfaces can now be co-located with both FXS and FXO ports in the same industry-standard 19” 1U or 2U rack-mountable chassis Xorcom (News - Alert), a privately-held manufacturer of business telephony interfaces and appliances based on Asterisk® open-source software, announced today that has added dozens of new models to its existing offering of XR1000™, XR2000™ and XR3000™ IP-PBX (News - Alert) product lines and Astribank™ channel banks. The new models feature combinations of E1/T1 PRI or BRI ISDN with both FXS and FXO modules, all co-located in the same standard 1U or 2U 19” rack-mountable chassis, to provide maximum flexibility and highest possible density in an incredibly small footprint.

Unique Design Enables PBX Flexibility and Scalability Xorcom has developed a revolutionary concept in telephony interfaces for Asterisk (News - Alert) systems called XPP technology. Using USB 2.0 ports to connect to any Asterisk server, XPP technology eliminates the requirement for a PCI (E1/T1) card, and even for PCI slots. The USB architecture embodied in XPP technology affords many advantages, including the ability to build large systems that support hundreds of analog extensions, rapid set-up and easy maintenance. Each Xorcom product is housed in a chassis supporting up to four different telephony modules. These modules can be mixed and matched to create the most cost-effective configuration that matches the customer’s requirements. A product configurator wizard located on the Xorcom Web site allows visitors to design a PBX system to suit their needs, and receive a recommended configuration ‘on the spot’.

Cost-Effective Telephony Expansion in a Compact Unit The Astribank channel bank provides businesses a tremendous opportunity for expansion at a fraction of the traditional cost of telephony equipment. The Astribank driver has been included as an official part of Zaptel (now DAHDI) since release 1.2.4, making Astribank interoperable with all current Asterisk PBX. The Astribank channel bank supports up to 32 analog ports and up to 144 PRI + FXS/FXO analog ports on a 19" 1U box (144 = quad E1 + 24 analog ports), high speed USB 2 connectivity, full support for fax machines, hot swappable architecture, and is rack- or wall- mountable. IP-PBX Models Match Business Telephony Traffic and Infrastructure Needs The Xorcom IP-PBX is a stand-alone appliance that runs Asterisk and Astribank VoIP telephony interfaces on a standard 19" 1U or 2U rack-mountable chassis. Three Xorcom IP-PBX models are available to address various capacity requirements, from small systems up to 1,000 users. All Xorcom Asterisk appliances feature easy-to-use, reliable, high-bandwidth and high-density USB 2 technology and support all the main analog and digital telephony interfaces, including FXS, FXO, E1/T1 PRI, E1 R2 and BRI ISDN.
