Apparent Networks Offers Enhanced AppCritical Version 3.6

Apr 04, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Apparent Networks, an IT performance management provider that delivers the end-to-end service insight required for cloud applications, announced the availability of Version 3.6 of the company's AppCritical solution.

The company noted that enhancements and new features assist IT outsourcers (ITOs), managed service providers (MSPs) and technology companies as they deploy networked applications across large and varied environments, parts of which are owned and managed by third parties.

Apparent said that AppCritical Version 3.6 includes multi-tenancy capabilities as well as other enhancements that can contribute up to a 70-percent improvement in certain product performance metrics.

"We're using AppCritical Version 3.6 and find it highly valuable in ensuring successful customer deployments," said Charles Minka, Senior Director of North America Global Services for 3Com. "We use it primarily to deliver Network Voice Readiness Assessments of our customers' networks before installation of one of our VoIP solutions. It gives us the visibility we need to make sure the customer's environment is ready for voice or lets us know the specific issues we need to address prior to the implementation. It saves a great deal of time and helps us achieve our number-one goal:ensuring that each customer has a positive experience as they make the transition to a VoIP solution." "As companies look to allocate portions of their applications and business services outside the data center to managed service providers, the ability to effectively manage and monitor the performance of those applications is imperative for both the customer and the managed service provider. Whether it's a voice, video or data application, to manage performance, organizations need visibility across the entire network regardless of where they reside," said Tracy Corbo, Senior Analyst for IDC's Enterprise Communications Infrastructure group.

"Our ITO and MSP customers have clearly stated that they need to be able to manage increasingly difficult WAN path scenarios faster and more effectively. Version 3.6 of AppCritical raises the bar significantly on both of these fronts," said Matt Stevens, Chief Technology Officer of Apparent Networks. "As a result, our customers get not only dramatically shorter MTTI and MTTR times, but also more comprehensive analysis and insightful reporting, enabling them to communicate key network path performance information to their respective clients." Apparent said that AppCritical Version 3.6 new features include: - Enhanced multi-tenancy capabilities enable ITOs and MSPs to better service multiple clients with a single machine rather than requiring a dedicated server for each of their customers.

- Correlated report analysis functionality makes it easy for AppCritical Version 3.6 customers to communicate critical information to their clients. The detailed path performance report shows per-path performance against user-defined service quality definitions. The violation summary report shows roll-ups of violations across multiple paths by violation types. The voice MOS incident report summarizes violations across multiple paths by the violation condition.

- Performance improvements in Version 3.6 enable AppCritical to deliver faster network fault identification and analysis for more effective network problem solving through the cloud and across very large, complex environments.

- Finer-grained access control features enable AppCritical customers to create and enforce role-and use case-based access rules. This feature helps companies manage risk by ensuring that user interactions with AppCritical stay aligned with corporate policies.
