April 03, Apr 03, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- ? Kyrgyz opposition parties and movements held demonstrations against the government on March 27.

In Bishkek, the capital, several thousand demonstrators gathered in various sites to express their dissatisfaction with the authorities.

The protesters demanded that Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev replace all of the country's power ministers, and half of the members of the Central Electoral Committee.

They are also urging Bakiyev to stop the persecution of opposition activists and independent journalists. Kyrgyz opposition leaders warned Bakiyev that if their demands are not fulfilled by April 20, more mass protests would be organized.
