Kabel Deutschland, the Leading Cable Company and Largest Triple-Play Service Provider in Germany, Deploys Camiant's Policy Server

Mar 24, 2009 (Hugin via COMTEX) -- Policy Control Platform Ensures Maximum User Experience for "HomeBox" SIP-Based Voice, Wireless Surfing and Digital File Storage Offering MARLBOROUGH, MA and MAIDENHEAD, UK -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/24/09 -- Camiant, Inc., the leading provider of policy control and application assurance technology, today announced that Kabel Deutschland (KDG), the leading cable company and largest triple-play service provider in Germany, has successfully deployed Camiant's Multimedia Policy Engine (MPE).

Kabel Deutschland, which operates cable networks in 13 German states and supplies its services to approximately 9 million connected TV households in Germany, is using Camiant's MPE to dynamically control their network and ensure a smooth and seamless transition as customers embrace its HomeBox, an IP-based voice and data home gateway. Camiant's Policy Control Server, which is fully compliant with 3GPP's Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF)* specifications including those elements adopted as part of CableLabs(R) PacketCable(TM) 2.0 standards, is an essential component of the broadband network, providing vital real-time intelligence and management of network resources, while creating an infrastructure for new revenue opportunities.

After conducting a rigorous search for the right policy control solution, KDG selected Camiant's MPE to dynamically assure the proper bandwidth and latency treatment for customers switching from legacy services to the HomeBox, saving KDG from having to statically allocate network resources for new customers. The HomeBox, with a built-in SIP client, provides up to 10 analog and ISDN voice lines as well as wireless LAN services and USB-based external storage. KDG successfully deployed Camiant's MPE working in partnership with Dimension Data as the global integration and services provider.

Dimension Data managed the handover from engineering to operations and delivers ongoing support for the solution out of their Global Service Center. Through the MPE's real-time allocation of resources, KDG can now maximize the utilization of bandwidth, enhance customers' experiences and increase revenue via new and competitive service offerings.

"We selected Camiant's MPE and Dimension Data as it was the most advanced technology and service solution for the immediate and future needs of our Next Generation Network environment," said Nicolai Boke, Head of Engineering Operation Support Systems & Value Added Service for Kabel Deutschland. "As we continue to rollout exciting new applications, it is imperative that we manage our network with real-time intelligence so that we can continue to deliver the excellence of service our customers expect from KDG." "Kabel Deutschland's reputation for innovation and quality is unsurpassed in the industry," said Ed Delaney, President and CEO of Camiant. "With Camiant's MPE, KDG has laid the groundwork to open their network and deliver flawless service to their subscribers. As the demand for high bandwidth services continues to increase exponentially, KDG is ready to meet the demands of its subscribers and reap the benefits of increased revenue generation."
