Zodiac and ADB Integrate Tru2way(TM) Technology to Support Ubiquitous Advanced Interactive TV

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) VALLEY STREAM, NY and GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, March 23 / MARKET WIRE/ -- Zodiac Interactive, an award-winning developer of software for interactive television, and Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB), an award-winning manufacturer of customer premise equipment, have announced today the integration of PowerUp?TV with ADB's products. The combined solution lets operators more rapidly deploy tru2way(TM) and EBIF(TM) applications, offering advanced Interactive Television 2.0(TM) services, such as advanced guides, targeted advertising, and TV widgets.

PowerUp is Zodiac's tru2way framework, a common platform of open APIs and libraries that allow for a broad range of applications to be developed and work together across multiple devices.

With ADB's tru2way set-top boxes and software now integrating PowerUp, operators can enrich their subscribers' experience with a variety of new, interactive services, including local restaurant searching, click-to-call, games, photo-sharing, weather, traffic, sports scores, local news, and more.

Developers will also benefit from ADB and Zodiac's integrated solution: they will be able to build their tru2way applications to the PowerUp framework specifications, without worrying about interoperability between any tru2way component already deployed by an operator.

"We are pleased with the performance and ease of interoperability with Zodiac's PowerUp framework. ADB believes that the key to the broad adoption of tru2way is integration, and we're confident in saying that our Osmosys tru2way software works very well with Zodiac's PowerUp on our full line of advanced tru2way set-top boxes," said Francois Pogodalla, CEO of Advanced Digital Broadcast.

"Zodiac's tru2way technology has proven its performance with ADB's tru2way set-tops and software. After almost a year of continual testing we could not be more pleased with the results," said Michael Rivkin, Zodiac's CEO.

"Although tru2way creates a national footprint for applications to run across multiple operators, the technology does in fact depend on various interfaces working together. That's where Zodiac's PowerUp plays a key role in integrating multiple steps, offering a streamlined application development process." At the Cable Show next month, both Advanced Digital Broadcast and Zodiac will demonstrate Zodiac's PowerUp for tru2way technology integrated with Osmosys software on the ADB-6880 CDMX Tru2way(TM) Personal Video Recorder.

In booth #525, ADB will be showcasing a complete line of tru2way set-top and set-back boxes. Demonstrations with Zodiac's PowerUp will include multi-room tru2way capabilities, such as interactive games and advanced guides.
