'WiMAX services kick off in Jura'

Mar 09, 2009 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- Luxinet, Altitude Telecom and Numeo have started offering WiMAX services in the departement of Jura, France, using the public delegation network operated by Connectic 39, a joint venture between Eiffage and Altitude Infrastructure. VNUnet.fr reports that the network's inauguration was held at the end of February. The cost of WiMAX equipment, around EUR 200, and at least EUR 35 per month subscriptions contrast with ADSL offers, whose basic service subscriptions are between EUR 20 and EUR 30 per month. The county government is reportedly considering extending several thousand euro to Connectic39 to subsidise end users' WiMAX equipment purchases.
