CableLabs(R) Forum Execs Select Verismo Networks VuNow Internet TV Platform as the "Best New Product" Likely to Succeed in the Cable Industry

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, Feb 24, 2009 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Verismo Networks today announced that its VuNow Internet TV platform was voted "Best New Product idea" during informal polling by cable technology executives gathering at the CableLabs Technology Forum 2009 held February 8-11 at The Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs.

Attendees at the CableLabs Forum included, but were not limited to, executives from Comcast Cable Communications, Charter Communications, Cox Communications, and other service providers. Verismo was among 10 companies invited to present and demonstrate cutting-edge broadband technologies at the CableLabs Innovation Showcase.

"Verismo impressed attendees with the uniqueness and flexibility of its software platform. Cable operators are interested in how to add value to consumers' entertainment by tying in new forms of video content with cable's traditional linear channels," explained David Reed, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of CableLabs.

The VuNow platform redefines the way consumers access and enjoy Internet video, enabling broadband users to seamlessly watch a wide range of online video content directly on their TVs -- without having to connect a computer in between. The VuNow PoD is a palm-sized box, available in standard definition and HD versions, that plugs into any TV like a DVD player to provide instant access to movies, YouTube(TM) videos, live TV channels, and more.

Additionally, Verismo Networks licenses the open platform to broadband service providers and equipment manufacturers. VuNow can be integrated into digital cable boxes and the service can be configured as a portal in a cable system's linear channel setup -- giving consumers seamless access to millions of online videos directly from their cable provider.

"Cable operators are looking for solutions that not only bring added value to consumers' entertainment options, but can also be easily integrated into existing technology and delivery environments.

Verismo's open platform enables seamless integration to existing and future cable environments," explained Marwan Fawaz, Executive Vice President and CTO of Charter Communications.

"We're honored by this recognition from the CableLabs Technology Forum audience," said Prakash Bhalerao, CEO of Verismo Networks. "It's clear that the worlds of Internet video and traditional broadcast are merging. VuNow enables cable operators to capitalize on this market trend and give consumers the best of both worlds -- around-the-clock access to a wealth of diverse online content alongside the familiar experience of their cable service and television." About Verismo Networks Verismo's VuNow platform transforms the TV set into a powerful multi-media hub with an unbelievable level of choice and ease in accessing digital entertainment.
