Alcatel-Lucent launches 4G initiativeFeb 18, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Alcatel-Lucent has launched a multi-industry initiative to promote infrastructure, devices, and applications for mobile and fixed broadband networks. It said the ng Connect Program's goals include accelerating deployment of 4G, long-term evolution, and gigabit-capable passive optical services and devices. The program will initially focus on consumer media and entertainment, enterprise collaboration and e-healthcare, automotive connectivity, and digital signage. Other members of the initiative include HP, Samsung, Buzznet, chumby, Connect2Media, dimedis, FISHLABS, QNX, SIGNEXX, Total Immersion, TuneWiki, and Words & Numbers.
