Alcatel-Lucent: Telefonica O2 in the Czech Republic selects Alcatel-Lucent to support a wide range of next-generation subscriber messaging services(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) RDATE:12022009 Paris -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that it has been selected by Telefonica O2 Czech Republic, a major fixed and mobile service provider, to support the launch of a range of next-generation messaging services for its subscribers.[ ]Thanks to the new converged messaging platform from Alcatel-Lucent, Telefonica O[2]'s mobile and fixed customers will now be able to access a range of innovative services in addition to traditional voice mail services. Using a Web-based interface, customers can choose how and when they receive their messages; the service supports Czech, Slovak and English languages. As part of a five-year contract - which includes project management, software integration, deployment and maintenance - Alcatel-Lucent has migrated voicemail boxes for 2.2 million fixed line and mobile customers in a record-breaking six weeks. A key feature of this end-to-end mailbox migration has been the movement of user greetings, announcements and personal options for all subscribers from legacy systems to the new, converged infrastructure, all while ensuring an uninterrupted and seamless transition for Telefonica O[2']s subscribers.
