SonicWALL Sees Increased Customer Deployments for Its Unique Clean VPN Solutions

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SonicWALL, Inc. , a leading secure network infrastructure company, today announced continued customer momentum deploying its unique Clean VPN secure remote access solution to businesses across a variety of sectors , including government, consulting, IT services, and the financial services markets. Facing issues that include sharing company data with third-parties and partners, a distributed employee base, and increased employee use of Web 2.0 applications, RVM, The City of Lincoln, Alta One Federal Credit Union and the Jewish National Fund among others have turned to SonicWALL to provide them with the security, peace of mind and feature set they need to continue to provide the services expected of them.

With unique dual protection capability, SonicWALL's Clean VPN comprises its industry-leading high-performance Unified Threat Management (UTM) firewall technology and secure remote access Virtual Private Network (VPN) technologies. The integration of both cutting edge technologies provides users with a solution that protects the integrity of the VPN access by establishing trust for remote users and their endpoint devices, using enforced authentication, data encryption, and granular access policy. This solution also secures the integrity of VPN traffic by establishing trust for this traffic, by cleaning and authorizing all inbound traffic for malware and checking all outbound VPN traffic in real time. Through its Clean VPN solution, SonicWALL delivers granular endpoint control, a unified policy model allowing dynamic access policies, and the revolutionary high-performance security of Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection over a multi-core processing platform.

"SonicWALL's Clean VPN technology is an ideal remote access solution for businesses of all sizes, as it delivers complete protection using a secure connection and real-time traffic inspection," said Patrick Sweeney, VP of Product Management for SonicWALL. "Our customers' businesses benefit by having the confidence that their remote network is secure, thanks to the Clean VPN's revolutionary multi-layered approach. For our customers, it's an ideal combination of two technologies many businesses can ill afford to be without - a quality firewall and remote access solution."

RVM
RVM, a holistic legal technology consulting company, needed a flexible and reliable firewall and remote access solution able to meet its serious and growing performance requirements for network security. RVM selected two Network Security Platforms; the (NSA) 4500 series appliances for its firewall needs, and the SonicWALL SSL-VPN 2000 for remote access requirements. Through this technology the company was able to create an environment featuring gateway antivirus, spyware filtering, and intrusion detection services as well as firewall redundancy.

"We realized that our existing network security tools were insufficient to meet our current needs, let alone our future ones," said Geoffrey Sherman, Associate Director of Technology, RVM. "We needed an infrastructure that would reliably monitor all our inbound and outbound network traffic without impeding network performance, as well as needing secure remote access. SonicWALL's SSL-VPN 2000 and NSA 4500 gave us the confidence to provide secure access to employees regardless of location, without sacrificing the integrity of the corporate network."

City of Lincoln (Nebraska)
Among its responsibilities, the City of Lincoln houses sensitive public data for the city and the county, accessible only to authorized parties. With the deployment of SonicWALL's SSL-VPN 4000 along with the NSA E6500, the City has been able to securely provide access to key data to third-parties, as well as employees working remotely. Without compromising network security but still allowing the appropriate level of access, the City chose the SonicWALL solutions as the backbone of its security infrastructure. Creating a Clean VPN, the City of Lincoln enabled sensitive, public data to be safely accessed from outside the office, without the worry of internal or external threats being spread via infected devices and on the network.

"When we set out to determine how best to setup a comprehensive secure remote access solution, we recognized that SonicWALL was a brand we could trust," said Jeff Jones, Network Supervisor, City of Lincoln. "Given the sensitive nature of the information we have access to and need to protect, it will come as no surprise that we need a security solution we can trust implicitly. With SonicWALL we have the peace of mind that this data is safe and that our employees who access the network are protected from potential viruses infecting the data they're transmitting."

Jewish National Fund
An international non-profit, Jewish National Fund identified increasing demands being placed on its company IT infrastructure due to increased travel and the need to better serve there constituents and business needs. The company needed to maintain a high level of network security while allowing its remote workers to access the network from hotels, their homes, and other 'on-the-road' locations. The organization incorporated a SonicWALL NSA 2400 firewall and two SSL-VPN 2000's appliances into its IT environment, resulting in simplified management of the entire network. With up to 50 employees accessing the network remotely at any given time, SonicWALL's Clean VPN solution significantly reduced the amount of time and resources the company's IT department had previously committed to maintaining a secure network for remote access, driving down overhead costs and reducing the appliances total cost of ownership.
