BRIEF: Sears names Timothy Kasbe CIO


(Chicago Tribune Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 3--Sears Holdings Corp. hired Timothy Kasbe as senior vice president and chief information officer, succeeding Karen A. Austin, who takes a new job as president of the home electronics business unit.



Austin had been CIO at Kmart since April 2002 and continued the job at Sears Holdings Corp. when the company was formed out of the combination of Kmart and Sears in March 2005. The head of home electronics is a new post, the company said.

Kasbe was most recently CIO at Reliance Retail Ltd., a startup retail chain in India that opened 978 stores in the past two years. Reliance is a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd. Before that, Kasbe spent 10 years at IBM Corp.


Shares fell 43 cents to $39.51 during morning trading.
