Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ), a provider of broadband and other
wireline and wireless communications, announced on Wednesday (28
January) that its FiOS TV service has added 12 new channels to its
line-up in Portland, Oregon, US.

The company said that its all-digital FiOS TV service is delivered over
an all-fibre-optic network straight to customers' homes.

Verizon said that FiOS TV customers in the area now have a total 105
high-definition (HD) channels and over 1,200 HD video-on-demand (VOD)
titles, which are offered each month.

The 12 new channels in the Portland area include channels such as
Chiller, a 24-hour channel devoted to suspense and horror movies; and
sports channels, including the Golf Channel in HD and CBS College
Sports Network. In addition, customers also have access to Blue
Highways, a channel highlighting music, neighbourhoods, art, festivals
and celebrations that define American culture.

FiOS TV is also continuing to expand its diverse content with the
addition of eight new multicultural content channels: CCTV-9, Deutsche

Welle, Zee TV, ProSiebenSat.1welt, Jus Punjabi, SET Asia, Starz Indie
and Starz Retro, channels for multicultural audiences as well as Asian,
Indian, German and European audiences.

New customers who subscribe to FiOS TV between now and 21 February 2009
will also receive their choice of free use for six months of either a
high-definition (HD) digital video recorder (DVR) or an HD Home Media
DVR.

Customers who take advantage of this offer can expect to save between
USD95 and USD119 for the first six months, depending upon their choice
of DVR.
