'Vodafone to launch app store'(DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Vodafone will launch within a few weeks its own applications download store, the mobile operator confirmed to the Dutch website Tweakers.net. The site will feature applications from Vodafone and third-party developers. Vodafone Netherlands spokesman Joost Galema said the applications will initially be free for download. He said the company is not aiming to make money from the applications, but instead make it easier for customers to use various services, such as mobile TV or internet radio. Applications will appear in the store sorted by phone model. The site is also accessible by computer.
