6,600-Employee Scottsdale Healthcare Streamlines Human Capital Management and Drives Green Initiative with Ultimate Software's UltiPro®

WESTON, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

Ultimate Software (Nasdaq:ULTI), a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, today announced that Scottsdale Healthcare, a nonprofit organization serving the Northeast Arizona Valley through health facilities, campuses, home health services, and community health education, has become a more efficient organization while "going green" with UltiPro's Web self-service portal.

Prior to deploying UltiPro in May 2000, Scottsdale Healthcare had been using enterprise software designed primarily to handle accounting and finance for healthcare organizations. As the organization grew, HR leadership found that Scottsdale needed more sophisticated HR functionality to accommodate its larger workforce and strategic human capital management (HCM) objectives. The HR team needed a Web-based solution that was easy for employees to use and would help the hospital move toward becoming a paperless organization. Without the ability to automate HR, payroll, and benefits processes — such as benefits enrollment — Scottsdale's HR team spent days on tactical activities such as deciphering and entering handwritten data.

"Before UltiPro, we had to key in a lot of information, so it would take three people one full week to enter benefits selections. And a typo could turn $25 into $250," said Della Martinez, employee benefits supervisor for Scottsdale Healthcare. "With UltiPro's Web-based benefits enrollment feature, employees can access and manage their own benefits information from a browser whenever it's best for them, without duplicate data entry by HR. The solution is completely intuitive, and our employees love it."

Since benefits documents and many other HR forms and handbooks for employees are now posted on the UltiPro portal, Scottsdale has also been able to use UltiPro to make great strides toward its objective to go paperless. "UltiPro's self-service supports our commitment to using green business practices and has opened new doors for us," said Martinez. "We see the value of having everything online and have even started scanning old files we used before UltiPro and adding them into the system."

Scottsdale has extended the advantages of self-service Web access to its executives, directors, and supervisors, who can log into UltiPro to activate new hires, evaluate metrics on their teams, and handle staff-related processes like terminations. "UltiPro's manager self-service enables us to more effectively collaborate with our organization's leaders, give them visibility into their data for better decision making, and keep all our data current and accurate. Everyone is in the loop at all times," said Martinez.

"Healthcare organizations like Scottsdale Healthcare devote a significant amount of resources to their human capital, so they find it especially critical to streamline as many processes as possible and hold down administrative costs," said Greg Swick, chief sales officer for Ultimate Software. "Ultimate Software is proud to help customers like Scottsdale Healthcare increase efficiencies, lower expenses, and reduce their reliance on paper with innovative technology, so they can stay lean and remain competitive in today's environment."
