FCC Chairman Kevin Martin to join Aspen Institute

(AP Online Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON_Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin is leaving the agency to join The Aspen Institute, a nonpartisan think tank.

Aspen spokesman James Spiegelman confirmed Martin will be joining the institute as a senior fellow with its Communications and Society Program. At an FCC meeting Thursday, Martin said he plans to leave the commission, but did not say when.

The announcement follows reports that President-elect Barack Obama will nominate Julius Genachowski (jen-uh-KOW'-skee), a key technology adviser, to be the next FCC chairman.
