(Commercial Appeal, The (Memphis, TN) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Jan. 10--UPS SET TO HANDLE MERCK'S DELIVERIES: UPS will manage distribution and delivery of a majority of Merck & Co. Inc.'s domestic sales of pharmaceuticals and vaccines.



Through subsidiary UPS Supply Chain Solutions, UPS has taken over Merck distribution centers in suburban Atlanta and Reno, Nev.

The centers provide temperature-sensitive storage, packaging and transportation services. They add more than 200,000 square feet of dedicated health care space to UPS's network.


COMTRAK HONORS DRIVERS: Memphis-based Comtrak Logistics has inducted 11 drivers into the company's Million Mile Safe Drivers Club and one current member was honored for 2 million miles of safe driving.

The new Million Mile club members are Tom Bishop, Ricky Hicks, Mike Marchbanks, Tony Moore, Thomas Motley, Randy Pettus, Allen Ratliff, Jerry Sansone, Glenn Stanley, David Tillman and Travis Ward.

Club member Don Petty, who has driven for Comtrak since 1983, was recognized for meeting the same safety criteria for 2 million miles.

METHODIST EARNS AWARD: Hospital group Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare has won an excellence award from the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence, a nonprofit group that promotes economic development by coaching businesses to improve their performance standards.

The organization gives its awards based on a process that includes a site visit by examiners and a detailed evaluation and feedback.

Methodist was one of three organizations to receive the excellence award this year -- there's no limit on the number of organizations that can receive it each year.

Separately, the Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center gained center of excellence status from health care management company OptumHealth for adult liver and kidney transplant programs.

MISS. GETS NEW INSURER: Ohio-based EnTitle Insurance Co. was recently licensed to provide title insurance in Mississippi.

With the licensure, EnTitle launched an online platform, EnTitleDirect.com, which uses a patent pending "Control Panel" program to allow consumers to view documents and monitor home closings.

Founded in 1978 as an Ohio title insurance underwriter, EnTitle Insurance is now licensed in 32 states across the country.

Entrepreneurs' roundtable

The Society of Entrepreneurs will hold a roundtable discussion about charitable giving at noon Jan. 22 at The Salvation Army, 696 Jackson.

Panelists will include Dick Barnhart, Mike Bruns, Charles Ewing and Buzzy Hussey.
