BRIEF: Downtown water main break repairedDec 17, 2008 (The Fayetteville Observer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Repairs to a water main that broke overnight in downtown Fayetteville were complete by early Wednesday afternoon, but the affected roads were still under repair. The break, at the intersection of Gillespie and Russell Streets, disrupted traffic throughout the morning. Most lanes of traffic are now open through the intersection and repairs are expected to be complete by 5 p.m, a PWC official said. The cause of the leak, which police said was reported at 2:27 a.m., has not been determined. PWC crews stopped the flow of water by 6 a.m. and began repairs to the line. How much water was spilled is not known. No customers were without water, according to PWC.
