Elemica Client Wins Prestigious Manufacturing Award Based on Progressive Concept Project

EXTON, Pa., Dec 08, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
Elemica, the industry-leading business
process network for the external supply chain, announces that their client,
Eka Chemicals, Inc., one of the world's leading manufacturers of bleaching and
performance chemicals for the pulp and paper industry, recently won the
prestigious Progressive Manufacturing Award (PM50) from Managing Automation
magazine. Eka Chemicals, a subsidiary of Akzo Nobel, was chosen out of a
substantial number of nominees for their OneEPI (Eka Process Information)
Project, a process information environment that is standardized across its
global operations. Elemica's B2B platform provides connections to Eka's
customers, automating paper-based processes for vendor-managed inventory
(VMI), optimizing the entire order process.
"Elemica's Connected Solution allows us to leverage customers already
connected to the network, and to easily add new customers," said Stefan
Malmsten, industrial IT manager for Eka Chemicals. "And Elemica's global
platform enables us to significantly improve the inventory management process
which directly impacts our customer satisfaction."
Elemica also received an award and recognition as a tech partner to Eka
Chemicals on the OneEPI Concept project. Elemica's Connected Solution
automates and streamlines business processes such as VMI and order management,
allowing companies to easily transact with customers and business partners. A
diverse group of customers in Europe, North, and South America and Asia are
benefiting from Eka Chemicals' progressive and centralized approach. Through
their process information environment, which includes Elemica's Connected
Solution, Eka Chemicals has gained greater inventory visibility, and the
company has streamlined and automated the VMI process, making it scalable
without additional resources.
"Eka Chemicals has truly achieved operational excellence within their
business operations, and we are proud to have been part of this project," said
Mike McGuigan, CEO and president, Elemica. "We congratulate Eka Chemicals on
this great recognition."
The PM50 Awards recognize leading manufacturing companies who have
