BroadLight Joins Forces with Percello to Deliver a Femtocell enabled GPON Residential Gateway for the Home/eHome NodeB (Femtocell) Market

SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

BroadLight, the leading supplier of GPON semiconductors and software, today announced with Percello, a UMTS/LTE femtocell SoC vendor, a collaboration to provide a complete reference platform that integrates BroadLight's GPON technology with Percello's UMTS/LTE femtocell SoC technology.

The common reference design based on BL2348 system-on-chip (SoC) GPON ONT/Gateways with Percello's femtocell baseband chips is capable to empower wireless notebooks, 3G/4G handsets, wireless IP phones, cameras, smartphones, and UMPCs.

According to market research group Forward Concepts, the emerging home basestation, or femtocell market represents a major semiconductor opportunity that could show a compound growth rate of 138 percent over the next four years and reach $1.5 billion by 2012. By providing the industry's best and most-widely used GPON and femtocell silicon technologies, BroadLight and Percello are well positioned to play a major role in this growing market.

"BroadLight has been aggressively partnering with technology leaders in the broadband space to enable customers to deliver BL2348 GPON residential gateways that meet and exceed service provider requirements," said Doron Tal, vice president of business development and product management for BroadLight. "Femtocell is considered a revolution in the mobile network market and thus, we partnered with Percello to bring the best femtocell technology to our GPON platform."

"Based on its performance and feature set, GPON is an excellent backhauling solution for femtocells. Such a strong backhauling capabilities will enable customers to enjoy the highest data rates of femtocells," said Yoav Volloch, vice president of products for Percello. "We are very excited to work with BroadLight to deliver a joint reference design to customers and enable them to participate in this rapidly expanding market opportunity."
