AT&T selected to provide network services in Georgia(Corporate IT Update Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) US communications holding company AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) announced on Thursday (20 November) that the company has signed a five-year contract with the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) in Georgia, USA. Under the contract, which has a projected value of USD346m, AT&T will provide managed Wide Area Network (WAN), Voice and Local Area Network (LAN) services across state government agencies in Georgia. AT&T said that the extensive deployment of managed network services will establish a more robust and efficient network for Georgia's government operations, a centralised management model and standardised service levels across the state. The AT&T solution will integrate new communications equipment, delivering more advanced communication capabilities for Georgia state officials and employees. The solution will also enable the state to use AT&T's unified network to strategically convert voice services to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The contract also provides the state with a disaster recovery solution and information security services so government operations can be maintained in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. The state is also expected to benefit from AT&T's advanced security infrastructure as well as an inventory and asset management system for the state's vital communications equipment.
