Dr. Stephen Costantino Joins Blue Square Energy Management Team(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Blue Square Energy (BSE), a developer and manufacturer of silicon solar cells, has named Stephen Costantino, Ph.D., Chief Technology and Operating Officer. In the role, Dr. Costantino will oversee the technical development of the company's Bright Point line of silicon solar cells. He will also be responsible for building BSE's manufacturing capability. Both a technologist and business leader, Dr. Costantino has more than 20 years experience managing and building technology-based businesses, with specialization in the energy, electronics, and specialty chemical sectors. Prior to joining BSE, he was vice president of Technology Commercialization Group at Ben Franklin Technology Partners, leading the formation of the organization's Clean Technology initiative. "Steve's energy experience will give Blue Square a significant advantage in bringing our Bright Point solar cells to market," said Joseph Babin, president and CEO of BSE. "And his expertise in starting and growing clean tech companies will help us take this company to the next level. We are proud to have him as a member of our team." Dr. Costantino was previously the CTO/COO for Oxane Materials, Inc. of Houston, Texas, a late-stage venture-backed company dedicated to applying nano-particle technology solutions to enhance oil and natural gas recovery and promote greater energy independence in North America. In this capacity, he was instrumental in growing both the technological and commercial viability of the company. Prior to his work at Oxane, Dr. Costantino was General Manager, Advanced Capacitor Materials Business, and Global Director, Research and Development for Cabot Corp.'s Supermetals Division. Dr. Costantino earned both his Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. degrees from Penn State University. "I am excited to have found a company with the kind of vision and innovation that Blue Square offers and I am particularly excited about taking on a leadership position in the development and commercialization of viable alternative energy," said Dr. Costantino. "The scientists and engineers here have made tremendous strides in developing a silicon solar cell that is affordable for business and home owners. Dr. Costantino has served in advisory board roles to economic development organizations promoting growth in Clean Technologies across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including the Pennsylvania Green Growth Partnership, The Philadelphia Navy Yard Keystone Innovation Zone, and the Chester County Economic Development Council's Smart Energy Initiative. He is an author on numerous technical articles and patents related to energy technologies and electronic materials. As an undergraduate, Dr. Costantino played on the Penn State varsity football team, and is a member of the Penn State Football Letterman's Club.
