SEH: SEH Gets Zebra Printers Ready For IPv6

Bielefeld, Germany, Nov 10, 2008 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
SEH, a worldwide leader in networked technologies, and Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in specialty printing and automatic identification solutions, today announced the availability of a joint technology solution that connects Zebra printers to IPv6-based networks. Support for IPv6, the emerging Internet protocol, is mandatory for new network components in the U.S. public sector as of June 2008. Other global governments including Japan and Europe have similar mandates coming into effect through 2010. The new technology supports the powerful features available in SEH's PS print servers for Zebra printers.

SEH provides its expertise of networked printing solutions that use the latest technological standards, including the network and Internet protocol IPv6, bringing the advantages of the protocol to Zebra output devices. IPv6 not only solves the imminent IP address shortage due to the still predominant protocol IPv4, but provides the foundation for future technological development as well. SEH's solution for Zebra technologies also includes the latest security standards for networked printing as well as comprehensive protocol support.

Development of IPv6-enabled Software for Public Sector Market
Completed in just six months, SEH developed and tested the IPv6- enabled network solution for Zebra Technologies. IPv6 is a technologically complex upgrade of the IPv4 protocol and is gaining significant global adoption. Both the USA and Japan have required IPv6 as a mandatory requirement for any new investments in network components in the public sector including government Web sites, intelligence organizations and across agencies. Countries in Asia and Europe have also required the adoption of IPv6 in certain government deployments.

Cooperation for Opening New Markets
The SEH-developed solution is expected to pave a way for Zebra's technology to enter into public sector markets that have made IPv6 a requirement. SEH is further able to expand its technology know-how for bar code and label printers with Zebra as a strong and reliable partner for the development of OEM solutions.

"This solution addresses U.S. and international government recommendations on how to effectively evolve public agencies' networks to be fully IPv6 capable," said Mike Majewski, CEO at SEH. "Now government entities that are struggling to comply with mandates have the greatest flexibility in accessing and securing Zebra print services. Our cooperation with Zebra advances our already successful position in the public sector."

"Enabling our government customers to securely print over IPv6-enabled networks is a requirement as the old system runs out of addresses," said Fred Susi, Director of Product Management for Zebra. "Unveiling a cost-effective and easy to deploy parallel port-powered solution to reach the addressing space of IPv6 offers IT groups that have not yet fulfilled the mandate to do so simply, while enabling government agencies to fully utilize advanced IPv6 capabilities in the future to meet government goals."
