Huawei Technologies Co Ltd.: Vietnam's HT Mobile Awards New GSM Network Contract to Huawei

Hanoi, Vietnam, Oct 15, 2008 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunication solutions for the operators around the world, announced that it has been selected by HT Mobile Communications Center ("HT Mobile") - a joint venture between Hanoi Telecom Joint Stock Company and US-based Hutchison Telecom - as a key partner in rolling out its new national GSM network.



HT Mobile is currently undergoing a telecom transformation and switching from CDMA to GSM technology. HT Mobile is scheduled to launch its new GSM national network next year.

Under the agreement, Huawei will be responsible for the design, building, deployment and management of HT Mobile's GSM network across 26 provinces in the northern and central region of Vietnam. Upon completion in mid-2009, all sites within the two regions will be equipped with Huawei's 4th Generation BTS green solution, a state-of-the-art next generation GSM solution. The solution is environmental friendly, huge in capacity to provide for network expansion and offers seamless future-proof evolution. As part of the project, Huawei will also provide a host of microwave transmission equipment and solutions to HT Mobile to meet the different application requirements.

The HT Mobile network was launched in February 2005 under a business cooperation contract signed in July 2004 between the Hanoi Telecom Joint Stock Company and Hutchison Telecom Vietnam, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hutchison Telecom.
