New Aberdeen Report Provides Roadmap for Companies Seeking to Improve Product Development Processes

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ANDOVER, MA, October 14 / MARKET WIRE/ --

Omnify Software, a leading provider of Product
Lifecycle Management (PLM) software for electronic, medical, mechanical,
and defense manufacturers, today announces the availability of a new study
from Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS), "Getting the
Process Right: A Fresh Look at PLM and Product Development." The report
provides a comprehensive guide to how effective organizational process
change can translate into improved product design and development
efficiency as well as greater market success.

The report identifies that the driving factors for manufacturers to
implement product development process change include time-to-market and
cost pressures as well as improved innovation. Successful execution of
product development change requires a combination of strategic actions,
organizational capabilities, and enabling technologies like PLM.
Best-in-Class companies achieve the greatest success by aligning their
product development efforts with overall business objectives.

Specifically, report findings show that Best-in-Class companies are:

-- Meeting product launch dates 2.3 times as often as Laggard
organizations.
-- Meeting product cost targets 2.1 times as often as Laggard
organizations.
-- Meeting product development costs 2.1 times as often as Laggard
organizations.

"One of the most compelling findings of this study is that knowledge
capture and reuse remains a key differentiator for the Best-in-Class,"
stated Amy Rowell, product innovation and engineering research analyst at
Aberdeen. "More specifically, our findings reveal that the Best-in-Class
are 90% more likely than their Industry Average peers to report having a
centralized process in place to manage the capture and reuse of product
data and information -- a process which has been supported and enhanced by
their use of PDM/PLM tools and methodologies. PLM has also helped these
manufacturers to excel in several other key areas including the ability to
manage and capitalize on product-related intellectual property and the
ability to address quality management and regulatory compliance issues more
effectively."

"As stated in the report, PLM technology positions companies well for
implementing effective product design and development processes," stated
Chuck Cimalore, CTO for Omnify Software. "Because our PLM solution provides
a centralized location to manage product information, streamline processes,
and enhance visibility to all aspects of product data, our customers are
able to achieve best-in-class operations and meet time-to-market, product
cost, and product innovation targets."
