Digium Launches Asterisk Fast Start Training

(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Digium, creator and primary developer of Asterisk, an open source
telephony platform, announced a new training course - Asterisk Fast
Start.

According to the company, the goal of the course is to give
participants an introduction to Asterisk covering such topics as
installation, configuration and the basic operation of Asterisk.
Participants do not need a background in Linux, telephony or Asterisk
to participate. The course will take participants through all the steps
from a freshly installed Linux computer to a fully configured and
working Asterisk implementation.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

- Install and run Asterisk on any computer and act as an Asterisk
administrator; - Configure Asterisk to deliver basic PBX functionality
including basic call routing, voice mail and directory services; -
Describe the telephony connections that Asterisk supports and identify
the necessary Digium hardware to support such connectivity.

"We are pleased to offer an intensive, introductory overview to
Asterisk - the most widely used open source telephony project," said
Rod Montgomery, director of services for Digium. "We've asked David
Duffett of TeleSpeak, Ltd., an Authorized Training Partner in the
United Kingdom, to create Asterisk Fast Start in response to requests
from the Asterisk community for an introductory offering. This new
course complements our current training offerings that are geared
toward every level of expertise."
