[October 10, 2008] Zoom Unveils Thumbnail-Sized Bluetooth Version 2.1+EDR USB Adapter Tweet (Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Zoom Technologies, a company that designs, produces, and supports Bluetooth products, announced the first shipments of the Model 4322 Bluetooth Wireless USB Adapter. According to the company, the adapter features a thumbnail size to improve convenience and safety, and conforms to the Bluetooth Version 2.1 specification for enhanced performance. When the adapter is plugged into the USB port of a notebook computer or other device, less than a quarter-inch of the adapter is visible, the company said. Zoom noted that most other Bluetooth adapters leave one and three-quarters inches or more exposed, making the adapter and connected computer easily damaged by an accidental drop or twist. Model 4322's reduced size allows it to safely remain in the USB port, available for quick connection to other Bluetooth devices, the company said. Support for the latest Bluetooth specification, Version 2.1+EDR, allows faster pairing with other Bluetooth devices, lower power consumption, and improved security. Version 2.1+EDR is compatible with earlier versions of Bluetooth, but Version 2.1+EDR improvements require the latest Bluetooth version on both ends of the transmission, the company noted in a release.
