Report: Spies secrets found on camera sold on eBay

(Associated Press WorldStream Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LONDON_An official from British spy service Mi6 sold a camera on eBay that contained sensitive intelligence records including the names of terrorist suspects, a British newspaper reported Tuesday.

Police seized a camera after being alerted by a member of the public, a spokesman told The Associated Press Tuesday. Intelligence officials are investigating, spokesman Colin Connolly of Hertfordshire police, just north of London, said in a statement.

A 28-year-old Briton bought the Nikon Coolpix camera for 17 pounds (US$31) and discovered the secret material when he downloaded pictures after a holiday in the United States, the newspaper said.

A document stored on the camera's memory card was marked "top secret" and detailed an encrypted computer system used by intelligence officials, it said. The buyer was not identified.
