Pacnet (News - Alert), a telecommunications service provider from Asia, announced plans to introduce its Application Acceleration Service, which will enable enterprises to speed up application performance across their IP network for increased business efficiency without any added complexity.

To fulfill its aim, the company has partnered with Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology, a company providing wide-area data services (WDS), and will deliver this new service through the Riverbed flagship Steelhead appliances and Steelhead Mobile client software.

Now, enterprises can deploy Pacnet's next-generation network to accelerate the performance of some applications by up to 50 times.

Enterprises can deploy Pacnet's Application Acceleration Service to enable branch offices and mobile workers with Local Area Network (LAN)-like access to data and critical business applications such as email, enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications and customer relationship management (CRM) systems, across the WAN.

The new service offers accelerated performance which enables enterprises to consolidate server and storage resources and improve backup and replication processes to ensure data integrity, apart from  improving staff productivity and collaboration also.

Pacnet will deliver the new service to its customers as an end-to-end service, taking on the complexity of managing the service for them.

Pacnet's Application Acceleration Service can be deployed in a day, and includes equipment procurement or leasing, installation, configuration, maintenance and 7x24 network monitoring. This new end-to-end service offering by Pacnet adds to its expanding suite of managed services which includes its Managed Router and Managed Firewall services.

Bill Barney, chief executive officer at Pacnet said that the ability to leverage the region's most extensive submarine cable network EAC-C2C is unique to company's solution, which provides diverse and robust network connections to support the service.

Barney noted that new service is specifically designed to help enterprises address this challenge by providing a solution to manage, monitor and accelerate performance and expand scope of applications across their network.

Jerry Kennelly, CEO at Riverbed, said that, as one of the largest providers of network and related services to enterprise customers in Asia and worldwide, Pacnet brings to its customers a significant opportunity to reduce total cost, improve return-on-investment and achieve better overall business processes.
