Tata Elxsi Inks Deal with Open Engineering to Distribute Computer-aided Engineering Solutions in IndiaTMCnet Contributing Editor Tata Elxsi (News - Alert), the embedded technology arm of Tata group, said it has signed a memo of understanding with Open Engineering, a provider of computer aided engineering (CAE) software, to offer CAE solutions for industries and research centers in India.
The partnership with Open Engineering enables Tata Elxsi, which provides embedded product design services, industrial design and engineering, animation and visual effects (VFX) services, and systems integration services, to address the growing requirements of the CAE market segments in India such as automotive, aerospace, defense, research and education. Open Engineering, the R&D subsidiary of Samtech Group, has appointed Tata Elxsi as the exclusive partner in India for the distribution and support of its multi-physics numerical simulation professional software Oofelie, Tata Elxsi said.
Oofelie provides an open, powerful but easy-to-use computer aided design (CAD) CAE all-in-one solution for industrial engineering departments and research centers. Oofelie has been used in modeling and design of electro, thermal, optical and mechanical systems, integrating electrostatic effects, acoustics, phase change and fluids.
“Oofelie framework is a design flow software tool for rapid virtual prototyping, parametric simulations, and design optimization for electromechanical systems,” the company said. “It automatically generates meshes from parametric geometries, solves complete multi-physics problems, and provides customized parametric designs.”
Tata Elxsi will also benefit from Open Engineering’s project and product design services and joint industry and academia R&D partnerships for the next generation of sensors and actuators, including micro technologies constraints.
“Increasingly industrial designers and design engineers are looking for cutting edge solutions that can improve product styling and functionalities, enhance product quality and maximize productivity, crunch time to benefit and cost, ensure seamless communication with downstream engineering teams, and incorporate customer feedback loops in the prototype stage itself,” said M. M. Prasad, general manager and head of the system integration services division at Tata Elxsi, in a statement.
“By managing an open industrial CAD-CAE multidisciplinary simulation flow, our software products respond to the increasing needs of engineers and designers to have the best advanced fine, accurate and adapted answer to their more and more complex problems, giving them fast, parameterized and industrially improved models’ prototypes,” said Igor Klapka, CEO at Open Engineering, in a statement. “Due to the high technology level of this offer, we need to find high-level market entrance partners.”
According to Klapka, Tata Elxsi is a technologically trustworthy distributor for India and the association will add value to Open Engineering’s business.
