Turin Networks Launches the Industry's First Carrier-Grade Converged Services Access Gateway

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PETALUMA, CA, September 16 / MARKET WIRE/ --

Turin
Networks, Inc., a leading global provider of innovative
Carrier Ethernet, Converged Services and Wireless Backhaul solutions for wireline and wireless network

operators, today announced a new feature release that positions the
company's widely deployed Adit? 600 platform as the industry's first
carrier-grade Converged Services Access Gateway. With a fully modular
architecture that supports hot-swappable service cards, Turin's Adit 600
provides greater flexibility, system reliability, and a longer product
lifecycle than competing devices which only support fixed configurations.
The release adds new advanced IP routing and IP service delivery
capabilities, optimizing the product line to facilitate the migration to
VoIP, the delivery of Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) services as well as
managed IP VPNs for small to medium businesses (SMB).

Recent in-depth research from leading high-tech market research firm
In-Stat indicates that the market for Multi-Service Business Gateway (MSBG)
devices is poised for high growth.
In-Stat defines MSBGs as a class of products, such as Turin's Adit
product line, which integrate multiple voice, data, and video communication
functions into a single device and are purpose-built for SMB applications.

"Going forward, it is clear that MSBGs will be the means by which new IP
communications technologies and applications are adopted at the small,
medium and branch office," said Keith Nissen, Principal Analyst at In-Stat.
"As a result, we expect the worldwide MSBG market will generate over US$2.7
billion annually by 2012."

About the Adit 600 and the MSR Card

Extensively deployed by seven of the ten largest Local Exchange Carriers in
the U.S., the Adit 600 product line serves as the flagship of Turin's
iConnect? for Converged Services portfolio. The new Adit release features
the MultiService Router card (MSR) which enables the integration of
advanced IP routing and IP service delivery capabilities into Turin's
modular Adit 600 Converged Services Access Gateway platform. Configured
with the MSR card, the Adit 600 is positioned as the industry's first
carrier-grade, multiservice platform for the customer premises that enables
service providers to deliver the complete range of new revenue-generating
IP-services to SMBs, such as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based voice
over IP (VoIP), Dedicated Internet Access and managed IP VPNs, and
traditional TDM data and voice services. Unlike competing devices which
provide only fixed configurations, the Adit 600 supports a fully modular
architecture and hot-swappable service cards -- delivering greater system
reliability, service scalability and a longer product lifecycle.
Additionally, the Adit 600 does not require fans for cooling, further
increasing the reliability of this NEBS Level 3-certified platform.

About the Adit 3000 Series

The Adit product line also includes the Adit 3000 Series of
application-specific, fixed form-factor devices designed to support the
delivery of carrier-managed voice and data services to SMBs at a very
competitive price with unmatched performance. The Adit 3000 Series
comprises the Adit 3104 Converged Services Line-Side Gateway for enabling
VoIP communications with analog telephones and fax machines, the Adit 3500
Converged Services Trunking Gateway for enabling VoIP communications with
legacy PBXs, and the Adit 3200 Converged Services Access Router.

"The Adit product line is an important component of Turin's overall product
portfolio and the cornerstone of our iConnect for Converged Services
solution," said Henry Wasik, President and CEO of Turin Networks. "In
addition to complementing our iConnect for
Carrier Ethernet and Wireless Backhaul solutions that focus on reducing customers' OpEx and
CapEx, our Converged Services Adit solutions enable our service provider
customers to grow their top line revenues. This significantly increases
Turin's value within our customers' networks."
