TORONTO, Sept. 15 /CNW/ - CIBC (CM: TSX;NYSE) will be expanding Sunday banking hours to additional locations across the country over the next year, offering clients even more flexibility, access and choice. With the addition of 33 new Sunday hours branches, CIBC will be open on Sundays at 45 branches across the country.

"The response from clients to Sunday hours in our branches has been overwhelmingly positive," said Sonia Baxendale, CIBC Senior Executive Vice President, Retail Markets at today's CIBC Investor Day Forum in Toronto. "Sunday has become the new Saturday and our clients tell us they appreciate being able to bank according to their schedules, so offering Sunday banking hours at 45 branches will give them even more flexibility and choice in how they bank with us."

Beginning this fall, select urban locations will open their doors on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. The exact locations of these additional branches will be announced later. Branches will be selected based on their location relative to busy urban shopping areas. Currently CIBC offers Sunday branch banking hours at six branches in the Vancouver Lower Mainland, and six branches in the GTA.

Offering Sunday hours and adding Saturday hours at other branches across the country is one more way CIBC is investing in its clients. In the past year, CIBC has also announced 47 new branch locations as part of a strategic plan to build, relocate and expand over 70 new branches across the country by 2011.

CIBC clients continue to benefit from evening and Saturday banking hours in many of its 1,050 branches, as well as access to more than 3,700 automated bank machines. Additionally, CIBC clients can choose 24/7 service over the phone and on Canada's leading online banking site, cibc.com.
