MRV Expert to Discuss Wire-Once Infrastructure at AUTOTESTCON 2008
CHATSWORTH, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (Nasdaq: MRVC), a leading provider of products and services for out-of-band networking, WDM and optical transport, metro Ethernet, fiber optic components, 10GE, and other service aware networking and research and test lab automation products, today announced Tim Smith, optical transport specialist, will speak on the topic of network test lab automation at the IEEE AutoTest Conference (AUTOTESTCON) 2008. His presentation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 3:30 p.m. in Room 251DE.
Government systems integrators, software developers and design engineers need to be able to deploy reliable products and networks more quickly, balancing time-to-market and product quality goals against system complexity and budget cuts in network test labs. Smith's paper, "Wire-Once Infrastructure for Optimal Test Lab Efficiency," argues that it's important to restructure the test process to meet these demands.
The paper also discusses the ways in which a test lab can be streamlined by leveraging "wire-once" technology to remove cabling challenges and develop a more organized and efficient environment. The "wire-once" technology of a physical layer switch turns the practice of manually configuring test topologies into a software process, eliminating the step of rewiring devices for each test and saving time, wear and tear on connections and minimizing re-tests due to configuration errors or faulty connections.
IEEE AUTOTESTCON focuses on automatic test systems for the military and will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah Sept. 8-11. The conference has been held annually for more than 40 years at locations throughout the United States and has become the premiere venue for test lab solutions. The company will also display its latest test lab automation solutions at booth #106.
"As network complexity increases, so does the importance of networking equipment testing. The wire-once solution is a true breakthrough for these labs in terms of taking lab automation to the next level," said Noam Lotan, president and CEO of MRV Communications. "It's a great honor for MRV to have Tim selected to present at AUTOTESTCON, and we look forward to giving something back to the industry."
