BRIEF: Starbucks closings spare Tucson: Only one AZ store on hit list

(Arizona Daily Star, The (Tucson) (KRT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Jul. 18--Tucson Starbucks customers can breathe a sigh of relief: Your store isn't going to close.

Of the 600 U.S. stores the company is planning to close in coming months, only one is in Arizona. It's Eloy's only Starbucks at 4985 N. Sunland Gin Road, near Love's Travel Stop.

According to Starbucks' Web site, store closings will start this month and will continue through the first half of next year.

The Seattle-based retailer announced that it would be closing hundreds of stores across the country because of poor sales at those locations.

A Starbucks employee at the Eloy location who answered the phone declined to provide any information on the store and immediately referred questions to the corporate office. The corporate office has not returned calls for comment.
