Twisted Pair Solutions Extends Enterprise Unified Communications to Push-to-Talk Radios with WAVE 4.0

Seattle, Washington, USA July 8, 2008 Twisted Pair Solutions (www.twistpair.com), a pioneer in unified communications software built to open standards, today announced WAVE (News - Alert) 4.0, the latest version of its industry-leading unified communications software. With new features and functionality designed to extend the capabilities and value of Microsoft unified communications applications and Nortel (News - Alert) IP telephony solutions, WAVE software offers the unique ability to incorporate push-to-talk (PTT) radios and other group communication systems into an enterprise unified communications environment.

Traditionally, large enterprises use PTT radio systems for communication in production and warehousing, transportation, and security. Until now, it has not been possible to integrate these systems into the growing numbers and types of unified communications platforms being deployed worldwide. WAVE 4.0 breaks down that barrier with seamless integration into Microsofts Unified Communications (UC) environment and Nortels IP telephony systems. With WAVE 4.0, the ability to include employees with radios into Microsoft UC environments is as easy as clicking a button on a desktop application, eliminating the expense of deploying hardware-based radio dispatch equipment and increasing productivity by maximizing the reach of unified communications within an enterprise.

WAVE 4.0 also unlocks the full potential of the Twisted Pair Solutions Developer community, adding support for the Linux operating system to complement the existing Windows audio processing engine. A full set of .NET (News - Alert) APIs is also now available as part of the WAVE Software Development Kit (SDK), providing Solution Development partners the flexibility to develop client applications using either .NET or Java.

Enhanced features in WAVE 4.0:

Standards-based IP Telephony
WAVE 4.0 provides IP telephony support using Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP) for interoperability with the industrys leading IP telephony providers. Backward compatibility with legacy H.323 systems is maintained and WAVEs modular architecture allows businesses to leverage either IP telephony standard.

Tighter Integration with Microsoft Environments
In WAVE 4.0, the WAVE Web Communicator can be embedded directly into a Microsoft OCS 2007 desktop client or SharePoint Web page, allowing users to access any other WAVE communications endpoint with a simple click. In addition, WAVE already supports Windows XP, Windows Server System 2003, Active Directory, and Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0.

Increased Support for Nortel IP Telephony
The new Nortel IP Phone Communicator allows WAVE users to access the full power of WAVE directly from select Nortel IP handsets. WAVE 4.0 has been certified as a Nortel Compatible Product, and been issued compatibility certifications for the CS 1000 and BCM 50 IP PBX platforms.

Mobile Device Support
WAVE 4.0 extends Microsoft unified communications technology to new devices, including PTT radios, intercoms and hoot and holler networks. This strong integration allows organizations to leverage existing investments in mobile devices, including PDAs with Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0.

Broader Gateway Support
WAVE 4.0 includes interoperability with two additional partner-developed radio gateways devices, the AM360r from VoiceInterop and the RIU gateway from C4i, Inc.

Enhanced Network Management Tools
WAVE 4.0 extends the inherent capability of Windows simple network management protocol (SNMP) and provides the ability to monitor WAVE components as part of an overall network management system (NMS).

Extended SDK Support for Developers
WAVE 4.0 provides the tools and sample applications Microsoft developers need to create customized interoperability and unified communications solutions. Developers can use the WAVE SDK with .NET APIs to build market- and customer-specific solutions. Moreover, businesses can leverage the SDK in conjunction with the Windows Workflow Foundation to build automated communications-enabled business processes. In addition, using a Linux engine, developers can build WAVE clients using existing Java APIs.

With this release, we are providing unprecedented flexibility and tools to our partners and their customers, said Tom Guthrie, President and CEO at Twisted Pair Solutions. In addition to the rich radio integration capabilities already provided by WAVE, now our partners have a choice in development and operating system environments. WAVE 4.0 supports tight integration with the unified communications products offered by Microsoft and Nortel, providing for extended access from OCS, SharePoint, and Nortel IP PBX (News - Alert) platforms to virtually any group communications system. Most importantly, enterprises can reap the operational benefits of integrating PTT radios with existing communications systems while leveraging the rich functionality and unified interfaces of their core enterprise technologies.

WAVE software technology powers some of the worlds most advanced VoIP applications with a highly secure and flexible solution for unified group communications. Using standard IP networks as the unifying medium, WAVE allows disparate communications systems such as radios, analog and new IP phone systems, PCs and PDAs to all interoperate seamlessly. Twisted Pairs distinct software-based approach to interoperability not only allows enterprises to leverage their existing hardware resources, but also develop customized solutions.

The WAVE Solution Developer Program provides developers with the tools and support they need to try, build and sell customized solutions that leverage the power of WAVE unified group communications. For more information, visit http://www.twistpair.com/index/partners
