? Elizabeth Pika was named VP of government affairs by the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed; Washington). Pika most recently was legislative director for Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin), who serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and its Health Subcommittee.



? Richard Boocock has been named VP of information technology and chief information officer at Air Products (Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania). Boocock joined Air Products in 1982 and has spent a good part of his 26-year career with the company in various engineering and business management positions within the tonnage gas and equipment sales businesses. Air Products specializes in markets such as semiconductor materials, refinery hydrogen, home healthcare services, natural gas liquefaction, and advanced coatings and adhesives.

? Constantine Mavroudis, MD, a pediatric cardiovascular surgeon, will soon join the staff of Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital (Cleveland) as chair, congenital & pediatric cardiothoracic surgery. Mavroudis is known for his research and expertise in complex congenital heart repairs, arrhythmia surgery, coronary artery surgery in children and cardiac transplantation. The Pediatric Institute and Children's Hospital is one of 26 institutes at Cleveland Clinic that group multiple specialties together to provide collaborative, patient-centered care.



? Carl Aschinger Jr., Owen Johnson, MD, and Fred Miller have been re-elected as directors of Neoprobe (Dublin, Ohio) for terms ending at the 2011 annual meeting. Neoprobe makes oncology and cardiovascular surgical and diagnostic products.

? Maria Sainz has been elected to the Orthofix International (Boston) board of directors. She is president/CEO of Concentric Medical. Orthofix International is a global orthopedic products company.

? Tamir Kazaz, CFO of Rosetta Genomics (Jersey City, New Jersey) for the past 2-1/2 years, has resigned. He is expected to leave during the second half of 2008, and will support the company in its search and during the transition of his duties. Rosetta Genomics makes microRNA-based diagnostics and therapeutics.

? Ron Richard has been promoted CEO of SeQual Technologies (San Diego) from his post as senior VP of sales and marketing. SeQual Technologies is a medical equipment manufacturer which makes oxygen systems.

? William Parrett has been elected a director of Thermo Fisher Scientific (Waltham, Massachusetts), bringing the company's total number of directors to 11. He also has been appointed to the board's Audit Committee. Parrett enjoyed a 40-year career at professional services firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, most recently serving as global CEO from 2003 until his mandatory retirement in 2007. Thermo Scientific makes analytical instruments as well as laboratory equipment, software, services, consumables and reagents.

? Jennifer Sargent was named VP of sales for U.S. Preventive Medicine (Dallas). Previously, Sargent was VP of sales for Matria Healthcare. U.S. Preventive Medicine is a personalized medicine business.
