Exponential-e: Wimbledon gets Championship bandwidth from Exponential-e(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) RDATE:01072008 Exponential-e, a specialist provider of bespoke Ethernet solutions for the corporate market, today announced deployment of its Powerserve Internet' solution for the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC). The Ethernet-over-fibre solution enables AELTC to quickly and easily flex the bandwidth it has available at different times of the year and makes use of Exponential-e's business-grade Internet Route 1 algorithm. Exponential-e worked closely with AELTC's voice and data solutions consultancy, MAC Systems during the planning, design and implementation stages of the overall project to ensure that all of the challenges were met in time for this year's Championship. The All England Lawn Tennis Club is a not-for-profit organisation, responsible for staging the world's leading tennis tournament; Wimbledon, the only Grand Slam tennis event still held on grass, attracts over 450 000 visitors and, through press, radio and television, a following of millions throughout the world. Wimbledon's demand for bandwidth is strongly seasonal. The world's media attend The Championships for two weeks each year and need to be able to file stories upload images and conduct online research as the action unfolds. In keeping with the professionalism of The Championships, Wimbledon's media centre must provide state-of-the art facilities. Exponential-e's Powerserve Internet solution is a high-performance business-grade Internet service. Route 1 intelligent IP management dynamically samples the traffic of five tier one providers and sends data via the fastest route available at any given time. As part of the club's overall Voice & Data review, MAC Systems identified the need for the AELTC to get flexible pay-as-you-go bandwidth-on-demand. This flexibility is necessary because only a fraction of the available bandwidth is needed for eleven months of the year, the demand for bandwidth during the event grows year-on-year. This, coupled with the intention to deploy SIP Trunking, meant MAC Systems recognised the need to forge a strong relationship with a company that could support the club's vision. The beauty of the solution is that as The Championships approach, simple keystroke re-configuration, done remotely by Exponential-e, flexes the bandwidth significantly to the optimum available on the optical Ethernet circuit. Bandwidth can be flexed for as long as it is needed and the customer only gets charged for the higher bandwidth rate when, and for as long as, it is activated. Engineered to provide full back-up in the event of any network problem, two separate circuits connect to two different Exponential-e network locations and are presented to the AELTC via two different communications rooms on their campus. Network traffic is load-balanced across the two circuits with each circuit backing the other up in the case of a problem. End-to-end management of the network is provided by an Ethernet demarcation device. This gives both Exponential-e and the customer full visibility of the circuit and allows faults to be easily isolated and quickly fixed. Paul Burns, Project Director, MAC Systems said "we had to take a careful approach in selecting the right partner for this client as they have some unique requirements together with a vision on how they want to operate the voice and data services at a world leading sports venue. MAC Systems working with the AELTC team, coupled with Exponential-e's innovative approach further enhances Wimbledon as a world class venue". Jeff Lucas, IT Director for the AELTC said "We always try to ensure that we have sufficient bandwidth capacity to support our media. We have gradually increased this over the years but felt we needed to make a step change for 2008. Exponential-e's highly flexible network and its tailored costs enabled us to do that". Mukesh Bavisi, Network and Services Director, Exponential-e went on to say "AELTC is now connected onto our service creation platform so it's simple to provision new services such as voice and SIP trunking just by creating additional virtual circuits as and when they are needed". About Exponential-e Exponential-e designs and deploys bespoke network solutions, connecting company LANs regionally, nationally and internationally to create global office networks. Customer networks are created within Exponential-e's VPLS-enabled NGN (known as the Service Creation Platform or SCP) and do not touch the Internet, ensuring they are totally private. In addition to fast, high capacity, flexible connectivity solutions, companies also access a range of enterprise services and applications which are hosted on the network. Managed and unmanaged storage, voice services, video conferencing, surveillance and colocation, plus some sector specific services are all available through a single access circuit onto the SCP. As well as its national UK network, Exponential-e has a direct connection into New York, offering desktop-to-desktop transatlantic services. The company also has a number of strategic alliances in place, with like-minded Ethernet carriers, enabling the company to offer end-to-end Ethernet across most of the world. Exponential-e's network solutions are fast, flexible and secure - giving customers responsive, scaleable networks which reduce risks and costs while enhancing their business performance. About MAC Systems MAC Systems has a proven track record of successful Consultancy, Project Management and implementation at both SME and corporate level of Voice and Data Solutions in numerous industries. As a result of recent successes they have now developed their own Telecoms Events Team to provide temporary service at sporting and other large events. A select network of strategic partnerships and support services enables MAC Systems to offer its clients the "Right Business Solution" through either established or hot-off-the-press ideas. MAC System's ethos of "Right First Time" coupled with a "Manage with Integrity" strategy allows it to build and nurture client relationships to the mutual benefit of both.
