Energy Efficient PCs from Lenovo enables The Eden Project to goes
greener .
(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
On 6 June, Lenovo, which develops, manufactures and markets technology
products, announced that it is providing the latest in energy-efficient
PCs to the Eden Project, an environmental project based in Cornwall
which is driven by environmental issues. It has now changed its
purchasing to the energy efficient ThinkCentre A61e for desktops,
ThinkVision L193p monitors and ThinkPad notebooks.
The ThinkCentre A61e and ThinkVision L193p have both been given a gold
rating by EPEAT (Electronics Product Environmental Assessment Tool)
which is operated by the Green Electronics Council. Products are rated
based upon environmental properties such as energy efficiency,
materials and recyclability. The Eden Project said it was attracted to
the environmental attributes of the Lenovo range as it seeks to
maintain a balance of environmental, financial and social impacts.
Lenovo was invited to do some power bench marking tests after the Eden
Project had noted that Lenovo scored well in Greenpeace's independent
"greener electronics" ranking reports. The tests illustrated a marked
saving on previous desktop equipment.
The ThinkCentre A61e runs on the energy-efficient AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual
core and AMD Sempron single core processors, when the desktop is
combined with the ThinkVision L193p it is 57% more energy-efficient
than Lenovo's previous solutions.
