Objective Systems' ASN.1 Tools Selected by Symbian

EXTON, PA, USA - May 28, 2008 - Objective Systems, Inc., a developer and licensor of software products supporting international open system interconnection standards, today announced the selection of its ASN.1 tools by Symbian (News - Alert) Limited.

Symbian is a software licensing company that develops and licenses Symbian OS™, the market-leading open operating system for mobile phones.

Objective Systems ASN1C compiler has been recently updated to provide built-in support for Symbian OS. It can generate C++ Packed Encoding Rules (PER) encoders and decoders that are compliant with special restrictions the Symbian compilers place on such code including the requirement to use non-writable static data. ASN.1 PER is used in many telephony protocols including those specified by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for use in 3rd generation and new 4th generation networks.

"We are pleased that Symbian has selected Objective Systems ASN.1 tools for use in its products. ASN.1 is a major technology in mobile communications and we recognize Symbian as a leader in this area," commented Ed Day, Principal Engineer of Objective Systems.

"We are very happy with the ASN.1 toolset and the support provided by Objective Systems," commented Andrew Molloy, Project Manager of Symbian.
