Ericsson wins USD160m network expansion and upgrade contract from
SingTel

Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson (OMX Stockholm; ERIC A,
ERIC B) (NASDAQ: ERIC) said on Friday (16 May) that it has received a
USD160m contract to expand and upgrade the GSM/WCDMA/HSPA networks of
Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel).
Ericsson said that it will provide a complete IP-based radio access and
common core network, as well as upgrade SingTel's existing HSPA network
to increase download and upload speeds to 15.4Mb/s and 5.7Mb/s
respectively. The upgrade will also prepare SingTel for HSPA Evolution,
which will enable even faster download and upload speeds.
Ericsson, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, provides technology and
services to telecomms operators all over the world. The group has over
70,000 employees in 175 countries and reported revenues of SEK189bn in
2007.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 11.73 Swedish kronor
(SEK).
