Frost & Sullivan Schedules Quarterly Analyst Briefing
(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
The Test & Measurement Group at Frost & Sullivan announced its 2008
Quarterly Analyst Briefing Presentation on the Triple Play and Next
Generation Services Test & Monitoring market to be held on Wednesday,
May 14, at 8 am PDT.
In a release, Frost & Sullivan noted that briefing highlights include:
- Telecom companies have begun to deploy complex wireline and wireless
networks to support an extraordinary combination of triple play of
voice, video and data applications over a common infrastructure. With
the fixed mobile convergence as a major technological trend in the
telecommunications industry, the main focus is to develop next
generation networks that would combine data, voice, and video
applications in a single platform. VoIP and IP Video test equipment
vendors have started to offer triple play test and monitoring solutions
to meet the growing needs of the market.
- This briefing will benefit communication test equipment vendors,
equipment manufacturers, service providers and private enterprises.
- An analysis of the integrated triple play test equipment, market
trends, market size, drivers and restraints, together with the analysis
of the next generation services test and monitoring markets such as:
VoIP, IP Video and Data.
- As new services are implemented, the need for devices such as
protocol analyzers for data, video, and VoIP to ensure interoperability
arises. Several new technologies that come to market sometimes cause
interoperability issues. When a service provider or carrier moves to
triple play deployment, signing up subscribers becomes a priority.
Obtaining test and monitoring systems in most cases is not a prime
concern. The first priority for service providers (SPs) is to identify
customers to add to their networks.
Unfortunately, it has been difficult to convince SPs that they need to
set up a monitoring system after they deploy next generation services,
said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Olga Yashkova. The use of test
equipment should be mandated right from the initial stage of the
deployment process.
