Singapore Airlines receives 4th A380, ready for Tokyo flights+(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SINGAPORE, April 26_(Kyodo) _ Singapore Airlines on Saturday took delivery of its fourth Airbus A380 superjumbo in preparation for the launch of A380 flights to Japan next month, the airline said. Singapore Airlines said the addition to its fleet will enable it to begin daily flights on the world's largest commercial airliner to Narita airport outside Tokyo on May 20, as scheduled. It will become the first airline to operate A380 flights to Japan. Narita airport will be the airline's third A380 destination outside Singapore, and its first in Asia. Singapore Airlines was the world's first airline to take delivery of the A380 in October last year and launch commercial flights on the plane, with services to Sydney. It introduced flights to London in March this year. Singapore Airlines took delivery of the plane at the Airbus Delivery Center in Toulouse, France, earlier Saturday. The aircraft is expected to arrive in Singapore on Sunday morning. Copyright ? 2008 Kyodo News International, Inc. |
