Grape and Tree Fruit League names new leadership(Fresno Bee (CA) (KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Apr. 9--John D. Zaninovich of Merritt Farms became chairman of the board for the California Grape and Tree Fruit League during its 72nd annual meeting in San Francisco last week. He succeeds Jerry DiBuduo, with Ballantine Produce Co. Inc., who was chairman for the 2007-08 fiscal year. Zaninovich has served on the league's board of directors for nearly 10 years. Other business included the appointment of the league's executive committee, the governing body that makes formal recommendations to the board of directors. The following individuals were elected to serve for a one-year term on the league's executive committee. The chairman is Marko Scott Zaninovich, Marko Zaninovich Inc. Committee members are DiBuduo; Ken Enns, Enns Packing Co. Inc.; Ron Frauenheim, Frauenheim Farms; Steve Hash, Steve Hash Farms; David Marguleas, Sun World International; Louis Pandol, Pandol Bros. Inc.; Dean Thonesen, Sunwest Fruit Co. Inc.; John D. Zaninovich, Merritt Farms; and Ryan Zaninovich, V.B. Zaninovich & Sons Inc. During the annual membership meeting luncheon, three industry veterans were honored for their service to the table grape and tree fruit industries. Cliff Sadoian of Fruit Dynamics Inc. received the Mentor's Award, given to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the table grape and tree fruit industries through leadership. Sarkis Sarabian of Sarabian Farms became the first recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award. The Supplier of the Year award was presented to Bruce Carter, with Agri-Cel Inc.
